2,000 aggrieved APC members defect to PDP in Kano

No fewer than 2,000 members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Sumaila local government area of Kano state have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The former members of the APC were received into the PDP fold by former governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Ambassador Aminu Wali and Gambo Salau.
Hon Surajo Kanawa, who led the defected members, accused the APC of leaving the running of the party in the area to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Reps), Hon Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, whom they accused of running the party in the area like an empire.
He explained that, only favoured members of Kawu are recognised as APC members in the area, explaining that they were leaving the party because of the high handedness of Kawu, whom he further accused of blocking all channels employed for reaching the party headquarters for complaints.
He further said that the aggrieved members that worked assiduously for the success of the party over the years were being treated with contempt by Hon Kawu Sumaila.
He said the people left APC for lack of equity, fairness and internal democracy in the ruling party, adding that with Hon Kawu Sumaila in charge, the future looked bleak for the APC in Sumaila local government area.
