Former special adviser to Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state, Alhaji Aminu Garba Gusau, has lambasted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over reports linked to the agency that the Governor used stolen $3 million to build a 100-room hotel in Lagos. Reacting to the online media reports accusing the Zamfara state Governor, Gusau described the story as “unfounded, false and malicious, another attempt by the Governor’s political enemies who are envious of his rising political profi le, to pull him down.”

Aminu said having failed in their attempt to impeach the Governor in July 2016, the political detractors have come again with another ploy in their desperation to achieve their fruitless ambition towards derailing the ambition of the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum in 2019 through the anti-graft agency. He said: “It seems the antagonists do not know the pedigree of Governor Yari, who was nurtured politically by a Zamfara born political gladiator, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima Bakura. Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari rose from the Secretary of a political party to the Chairman and later became Member of the House of Representatives before becoming the Governor cum Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum. Whoever knows Yerima Bakura would know that what comes out of him politically, cannot be displaced.

“It is unfortunate that some people could bring up the false allegation that Governor Yari cheated some of his colleagues in the refund of the London Paris Club refund forgetting the prominent role he played in the release to bail out most states of the federation.”
