Abia gov: Ikpeazu knows fate May 12

The court fixed the date yesterday, after hearing submissions from parties involved in the matter.

At the hearing of the appeal filled by the Mr. Samson Ogah, the court was urged to set aside the judgement of the Appeal Court which upheld the nomination of Governor Ikpeazu, last year.

Counsel to the appellate, Dr. Alex Izinyon, in his argument, submitted that Ikpeazu was not qualified to have stood for the 2015 Abia state governorship election on the platform of People Democratic Party PDP, on the ground that he supplied false information in the document used to secure clearance for the election.

Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Alhassan A. Umar, also urged the dismissal of the appeal and allowed the judgement of the Appeal Court in the matter to stand.

It is on record that thousand of Nigerian’s have fled the country especially at the wake of Boko Haram bombings of motor parks, mosques, churches and market places.

From that time to date in Nigeria people continue fleeing even community level violence, which is often personal and direct made many people to abandoned their home and seek refuge in other countries. In many times during the high time of Boko Haram attacks, women and children were the most vulnerable, they were subject of abuse, rape and murder. For that reason they constitute high percentage of migrants from the country.

One Aminatu Amadu Sarki of Zaitawa in Kano State has given her reason for migrating from Nigeria to United States for fear of violence since the health professionals. Government should encourage and motivate pharmacists to produce drugs in Nigeria in order to reduce importation.
