… Agency, ECOWAS donate to Borno IDPs

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) handed over to Borno State Government large quantities of building materials and food items to support the reconstruction of destroyed homes and feeding of Internally Displaced Persons affected by insurgents in the state.
The Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, handed over the items to the state governor Alhaji Kashim Shetima  said they consisted of  2,600 bundles of roofing sheet, 2,500 piece ceiling boards, 350 bags of 3”nails, 350 packets of zinc nails, to assist the government in the ongoing effort of reconstruct houses destroyed by the insurgents in Bama, Hawul and Gamboru-Ngala communities.

He gave the breakdown of the food items delivered by the agency based on existing memorandum of understanding with the state government on the feeding of the IDPs as made up of 3,600 bag of rice, 1,400 bags of beans, 1,000 bags of millet.
The Director General of NEMA was in Borno State with the ECOWAS President, Marcel de Souza who also announced donation of USD0.4million to the Borno State Government and USD1million for the northern eastern states affected by the insurgency from the regional body for the feeding of the IDPs.
Receiving the items, the governor appreciated NEMA for the continued support for the IDPs and ECOWAS for the donations and promised that the items would get to the beneficiaries
