Al-Makura promotes 6, 277 teachers

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has approved the promotion of 6, 277 teachers of secondary schools across the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Aliyu Tijjani Ahmed, revealed this yesterday at a meeting with Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) and Principals of secondary schools in his office in Lafia, saying that the promotion would be notional.

He said all the agreements between government and Organised Labour hhad been signed and equally informed all the CIEs and Principals of various secondary schools to ensure effective supervision in addition to keeping records for attendance, “so that government can look at the result and take appropriate measures against those that refused to come to work, since the strike has been suspended.”
He also enjoined the principals to “effectively make use of corps member and PTA teachers so that the school should also run effectively.”
Accordingly, the breakdown of the promotion is as follows. Grade level 07 to 08, is 2515; GL 08-09, 1512; GL 09-10. 891; GL 10-12 783 and GL 12-13 576 give a total of 6, 277 teachers.
