Atiku: The eagle without destination

In 1999 Atiku Abubakar was sincerely elected as Adamawa State governor with perhaps the content of the majority people of the vital state in the North-east of this great country, Nigeria.
Actually, Sir Atiku Abubakar was one of the luckiest politicians of his time for after being elected governor the then President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, single-handedly nominated Atiku Abubakar as his vice president because of his loyal friend late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua (may God bless his soul ameen). Atiku Abubakar was said to be a right hand man to late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

Atiku Abubakar being loyal to the core must have also been a loyal friend to General Obasanjo (Rtd) who also was a friend to late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua who became something like Vice President to Chief Obasanjo in 1976 when he was Head of State after the assassination of Murtala Ramat Mohammed after only one year as a Head of State.
Though, Chief Obasanjo was there against his personal wish but being together with Shehu Yar’Adua he was settled with no iota of fear.

So, perhaps, nominating Abubakar Atiku was also to remove such inferiority complex from the side of Obasanjo, the Nigerian President that was about to bend the Nigerian Constitution that allows only 4-4 duration for each president. But for fear of the unknown, Obasanjo was about to elongate his stay for a third term which rejected by Nigerians mostly northerners. Atiku Abubakar was at the forefront of that herculean task which dashed down like the melted glacier.
Well, that is just history and since then the white eagle Atiku Abubakar has been going from one location to the other dreaming still to be President of Nigeria. He established one party after the other cross-carpeting from PDP to what have you and by 2003-2015, he is now with the APC and even contested its primary election with both current president of Nigeria, General (Rtd) Muhammadu Buhari together with Rochas Okorocha, Sam Ndah Isaiah and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Atiku Abubakar came third while Senator Kwankwaso was second, beating the billionaire pants down.

Well, this is politics and no matter how wealthy, things may turn against you. I don’t know whether such has ever happened to the current billionaire President of the United States, Donald Trump. But certainly, Americans have seen whom they elected! Now Abubakar Atiku is going round building consensus to be president like the ambitious Brutus of the Julius Caesar fiction.
His immediate hope is to get the echelon of the APC to allow him to be the next president by 2019. This could be possible if PMB calls it quit as it appears PMB is no more interested in this chaotic nation where only few remains as the true lovers of Nigeria with patriotic zeal.
Atiku Abubakar is now joining hands with those calling for the disintegration of Nigeria through what they call restructuring, a word that still is unknown to the modern dictionary. Mr Tam David West, a former Petroleum Minister, has already told us that those wishing for restructuring of Nigeria are only calling for its destruction. The coupists of 1966 are now yearning such dream. Soothsayer, Atiku Abubakar, wait for your time.
