Boko Haram Attempt To Capture Home Town Of The New Chief Of Army Staff Again

The attempt by the terrorist group, Boko Haram to invade Buratai, the home town of the new Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Tukur Buratai was foiled on Monday night by Nigerian troops which has a military camp in place.

Monday’s night attempt to move against and capture Buratai in Borno State by members of Boko Haram was the fourth time since February 2014.

The Boko Haram invaders, according to military sources struck at about 9.30 pm but were successfully repelled by the Nigerian troops.

However, the terrorists group that were determined not to give up easily returned to Buratai again at about 3.00 am and were decisively pushed back.

Confirming the incident, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sani Kukasheka Usman said in a short text message that the “suspected terrorists made a futile attempt to attack Buratai town in Borno State and military camp located in the area.

Usman said; “I am glad to inform you that the gallant soldiers rose to the occasion and dealt with the situation. They however made concerted effort at about 3.00amthis morning which was equally repelled by the gallant soldiers. The situation and town is cool and calm.”

Boko Haram’s first strike in Buratai took place in February 2014 when General Buratai was serving as Commander of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta
