Call for police commissioner’s sack baseless – NYCN

The president, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Murtala Muhammed Garba, has condemned the call by the factional president of the Council for the sack of the FCT Commissioner of Police, over harassment, saying the allegations were baseless.
Garba, at a press conference yesterday at the Youth House, disassociated the Council from the allegation, saying contrary to insinuations by estranged Ikanga Ugochinyere, the Council never witnessed any form of intimidation by the police or any other security agency.

He said: “My attention has been drawn to a statement credited to Ikanga on AIT raising the alarm on behalf of the Council that the FCT Police Commissioner plotted to intimidate him out of office. He also petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the IGP to sack him for contempt and abuse of office.
“The Council, as a law-abiding organisation, has never witnessed any form of intimidation either from the FCT police command or any other security agencies. I urge the public to disregard accusations as it does not represent the position of the Council.”
He said alarm was just an attempt by the author to disparage the Council and give it a negative impression.
