Convention October 26-29 this year

Rising from the National Executive Council meeting which held recently in Abuja, the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has said that the 36th International Convention of the association will hold on the 26th to 29th of October this year.
According to a communiqué issued jointly signed by the association’s President, Mallam Denja Abdullahi and its General Secretary, Dr Ofonime Inyang, The theme of the conference will be: “Canons, Prizes and Boundaries: African Writings and Writers in World Literature.

Also contained in the communiqué is the resolution to plan and execute the new programmes, initiatives and activities that would engender, increase creative opportunities for writers in the country such as the ‘Young Writers Mentorship Scheme (YWMS)’, ‘A-Book-A-Child Project’, International Conferences on Indigenous Literature and New Writings and Criticisms.

“The National Executive Council of the Association therefore calls on governments at all levels in Nigeria to be proactive, ingenious and sensitive to the plight of the people in stemming the tide of biting socio-economic challenges, spiraling inflation and seeming deep-seated contradictions in governance in the country.
“Appropriate and well thought out measures should be urgently explored by the government in order to restore public confidence and create the space for wholesome stability in the polity,” it stated.
