Dapchi: Kidnapped girls will return soon – Minister

Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali has assured that the 110 girls of Governmenet Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state, kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists will soon regain their freedom.
The minister who gave the assurance weekend during a television programme said the military is already closing in on the terrorists. “It can be earlier; maybe a week, it can be two weeks, but we are on it, and I’m telling you with all sense of sincerity that we are closing in on them,” Dan-Ali told Channels TV.
The terrorists stormed Dapchi village and abducted the girls in their schools in the of February 19, 2018, s. The minister disclosed that all necessary efforts were being made to ensure that the girls return safely as soon as possible. “We have dispatched all the surveillance devices we have in terms of air, human resource, intelligence, and other forces that needed to be in place by all possible means and we have made sure that all that’s needed is being done to see that these girls are being found, wherever they are,” he said.
The minister was also confident that the girls would return in the shortest time owing to the intelligence at the government’s disposal, though he cannot say the exact time when it would be. President Muhammadu Buhari had said the life of every citizen matters to his administration. He has visited Government Girls Science and Technical College (GGSTC) in Dapchi, Yobe State and held a meeting with parents and teachers.
The President also met with community leaders at Dapchi. Buhari was received by the state governor, Mr Ibrahim Gaidam, and other top government officials. He assured that the Federal Government will not rest until all the Chibok and Dapchi schoolgirls in the Boko Haram custody are released and reunited with their families.
6 Div holds annual range exercise today
In line with the Nigerian Army Training Directives of 2018, Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army and its affi liated formations and units will today commence its Annual Range Classification Exercise. The event according to Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Col. Aminu Iliyasu from Monday 19th – Friday 23rd March 2018 between 6:00 am to 5:00 pm daily at Nigerian Army Shooting Range, Igwuruta.
He said the aim of the Exercise is “to ascertain the professional competence of the troops on the use of fi re arms and sharpen their marksmanship with the primary goal of improving individual skill.” Iliyasu urged the public, particularly residents, commuters and farmers within the Igwuruta Army Range area “to stay clear of the Range area for the duration of the exercise. “
