Head Coach of Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), Tony Konyegwachi has boasted that the country’s boxers will win more than two gold medals at 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia when hostilities set in as from April 4 despite lack of honours in recent times.
Konyegwachi who spoke in an interview noted that the boxers need exposure before the games proper adding that the boxers have been in camp for two months and three weeks.
The Federation picked eight boxers made up of four males and four females to represent the country in Gold Coast.
The female boxers are AyisatOriyomi (51kg),ItunuOriola (69kg) both from Lagos, Nigeria Army’s YetundeOdunuga(60kg), and Millicent Agboegbulem (75kg) from Delta.
While in the male weight categories, Nigeria Police’s Sikiru Fatai(56kg), Ogun state Soyoye Kazeem(60kg), Nigeria Army’s Paris Umeh (69kg) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lukmon Lawal(81kg).
The Nigerian boxing team will embark on a training tour of Australia ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
