The Ebonyi state House of Assembly Speaker, Rt hon. Francis Nwifuru, has described Governor David Umahi’s two years in office as a wonder.
He disclosed this recently in an interview with Blueprint at Abakaliki.
Nwifuru who cited the transformation of the capital city said, the governor has done very well in delivering it’s campaign promises.
“Re gathering infrastructure the first thing he did on assumption of office, he embarked on construction of roads.
“Abakaliki was like a dirty city before, but today the story has change. The governor started by re constructing about 360 km road within the capital city which was commissioned by 29th may 2016 by the formal minister of information and Orientation Prof Jerry Ganah”.
“On 29th may 2016, he said he was going to change the face of Abakaliki. Township Stadium, people were wondering how possible it would be in this economic recession, fortunately the governor surprised Ebonyians, has completely change re constructed Abakaliki township stadium”.
“Dave Umahi is a very creative man, was elected on 11may and was sworn in on 29th may, the basic thing in human life is shelter, but today there is shelter everywhere”.
“The issue of health all our general hospital is having a face lift, the formal administration awarded a contract, of build five new general hospital and renovation of the 8 existing ones, the present governor now awarded fencing of all the general hospital, for the neatness of the hospital he has also done the landscaping, in Vesico Virganal fistular VVF center a lot is happening their”.
“Come to Ebonyi state House of Assembly today, the new complex started like a joke, the governor first approved eighty million naira for the re construction and members did not believe it, but the way and manner he is handling the complex, the building now is eighty percent completion and the state house of assembly today is having their own gallery.
What I like most in the governors project is the quality of his project”.
“In terms of paying salary, the governor is not owing us, he pays as at when do, teachers receive salary on fifteenth of every month so is every other civil servants in the state”.
“In agriculture Ebonyi is now known as agricultural state, we were producing rice but something happened that the people abandoned it. Today the state has bounce back to agriculture starting from the governor who has a very large farm land where he cultivates rice. Knowing that oil is drying up in this country the governor had to take a lead to encourage others, youth of Ebonyi state is now taken a lead from the governor and has now gone back to farming. He has succeeded in making even the youth to understand the benefits in farming instead of fighting for political position always”.
“In human management the governor had sent a letter for the house to approve sitting of the divine mandates Elders forum, He had given out key government position to the senatorial, he gave the position of Secretary to the state government SSG to somebody from the Central, Position of Principal Secretary to Central, Head of service to North, Attorney General of the state to North zone of the state.
