FG won’t tolerate extremism, religious intolerance – SGF

The federal government would be decisive in applying the full weight of the law against those who masquerade under the disguise of religion or any other pretence to perpetrate crimes.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, said this yesterday at the opening of the 2018 first quarter meeting of the Nigeria InterReligious Council (NIREC) held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Abuja.
“Religion is an instrument for building national harmony and peaceful co-existence, and this government is committed to fairness to all, irrespective of their ethnic background or religious beliefs,” he said.
He listed extremism and religious intolerance as one of the challenges facing the country, and called on religious and traditional leaders to help the government find solutions that would complement the on-going efforts of government.
The SGF also commended security agencies for living up to their expectations, stressing that the business of security is the business of all Nigerian citizens.
