Firearms: Police, public partnership working – AIG Karma

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 9, Umuahia, AIG Hosea Hassan Karma, has said that the partnership between the Nigerian Police Force and the general public is yielding positive results.
The AIG stated this in Umuahia when the National Task Force came to his office to return the arms and ammunitions recovered from hoodlums of Osisoma Ngwa local government area of Abia state.
He added that the community policing was yielding the desirable result as the public were now ready to give information to the Police which enables his men to swing into action, recording breakthrough in combating crimes in the area.
The police boss, who was represented by a Superintendent of Police, Egwu Chukwu Janet, Zone 9 PPRO, expressed satisfaction that the directive of Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris on mop up of illegal arms and ammunitions from unauthorised persons was yielding the desired result in Abia.
He extolled members of the public for giving information to the police, while commending National Task Force for a job well done.
In an interview with newsmen, the state Director of National Taskforce, Hon. Silas Uchendu Ihemeremadu, he said his command received information on 21st February, 2018 about illegal possession of arms and ammunition by hoodlums operating at Ariaria village in Osisioma Ngwa local government area of Abia state.
He said because they were not permitted to carry arms, their Director-General, Chief Osita Okereke instructed that they hand over to the police any recovered illegal arms and ammunitions.
