Golf is a game of integrity – Mark

The president of the senate, Senator David Mark, has reminded golfers of the need to show character, honesty and integrity in all their activities.
Mark, who gave the advice at Otukpo Golf and Country Club, Akpegede, in Benue state at the weekend during the ULO Annual Golf Pro-Am Tournament, said golfers should play according to the rules of the game to ensure integrity and fairness.

He also called on the youths from across the country to actively participate in the game as an avenue towards making a living thus enhancing their social and economic development.

The president of the senate was pleased to note that more people are getting interested in the game of golf and commended the organizers of the tournament for encouraging and promoting sports.

In his remarks, the organizer of the tournament, Chief Uche Okpuno, said the event which attracted players from across the country was aimed at enhancing the skills of the amateur players in the area, pointing out that sports are a unifying factor in the country.

Gips Willy from Air Assault Golf Club, Port Harcourt, emerged the overall winner in the professional category with the total scores of 284 over 72 holes, while Amos Korblah, from Otukpo Golf and Country Club Akpegede, came second with aggregate scores of 289 over 72 holes.
