Acting Chief Medical Director of University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, Dr. Abubakar Haruna, has disclosed that the federal government had set up a committee to address the delay in the payment of social workers of the hospital.
Haruna made the disclosure yesterday after meeting with the management of social workers of the hospital when their staff barricaded the entrance of the hospital demanding for the payment of their four months’ salaries up front.
He told the representatives of the workers that members of ministries of finance and health made up of the committee had been working round the clock to proffer solution to the problem, and that his leadership would leave no stone unturned to ensure the their entitlements were paid.
He thanked the workers for understanding with the hospital management for returning to their duty posts even as he assured them that their salaries would be paid next month.
