Horror as police arrest 2 brothers with fresh human head

Two brothers of the same parents suspected to be ritualists were arrested with a fresh human head by the Ekiti state police command.

Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adeyemi Alberto, who made the disclosure yesterday, gave the names of the suspects as David Oluwatosin and Tosin Oluwatosin.

He, however, said that David was at large.

The latest incident was the third within three weeks.

The first two were beheaded in the heat of the Ayede-Itaji land dispute.

Alberto, who confirmed the incident to journalists in his office in Ado Ekiti yesterday, said Tosin was arrested with the fresh head in Ifaki Ekiti, in Ido-Osi local government of the state around 3.35pm on February 14, following an intelligence report from unnamed source.

He said: “Yes, it is true. One of the suspects is on the run. The victim is about 12 years old, but we are still looking for the severed body and we are also on the trail of the one at large. After investigation, the suspects would be charged to court.”

The PPRO, who decried incessant beheadings in the state, said the police would also investigate if the two brothers had hand in the first two beheading.

Meanwhile, the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the mortuary, General Hospital, Otu- Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South council area.

Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident in Asaba, said detectives were already investigating the murder case, and urged residents in the community to remain calm and avoid taking laws into their hands.

“We have evaluated the possibility of hijack of any protest in the present circumstances and consider it unacceptable. We do not believe in public protest in Kogi state and, therefore, we urge all students in the tertiary institutions of the state to kick against any form of protest,” he said.
