How to judge productivity

I like the business dictionary definition of the word “ productivity” . It defines Productivity as a measure of the efficiency of a person, machine, factory, system, etc., in converting inputs into outputs.
Life in general can be summed up in this one word, the goal of every normal human being is to be productive. likewise every business, economy or government.
The farmer may understand in more details how crucial productivity is to his survival as the soil, the weather, the fertilizer and his own daily care by hedging and weeding play vital roles when harvest times comes.
Harvest time or evaluation and promotion time are all rewards, signs and elements of productivity. The crop that does better than the rest is considered more for the next crop year than the crops barely made it.
The employee of the month, the teacher of the year, the best marketer of the northern or southern zone are all prizes and awards that recognize productivity. As such it is key for you and I to understand how productivity is measured and then perhaps reaping the benefits would not be as difficult anymore.

In measuring productivity, there are key words to consider:
1.Time
2. Quality
3. Speed
4. Input
5. Output
6. Location

The understanding of these key words will in no time help you improve on your overall production levels and help you make any necessary adjustments against any impediments to your desired level of output.

•  Time; To everything there’s time, for everything there’s also time. Productivity is always measured with time because process requires time. Before anything or anyone is judged, time has to be given. A new employee is usually on probation for about six months before he or she is considered for a permanent position.
That space of time allows for proper judgement of his or her potentials and how well they’re able to function or perform on the job.
So it will be wrong to pull the plug on any effort or endeavour without the due process of time.

•  Quality:  Not every corn crop turns out the same in size and quality. Some corn crops are the regular size but corn on it will be so scanty that it’s rejected at the time of selection.
Quality is a key measure of productivity and in this case it is more relevant than quantity. So check the quality of what the effort translates to overtime rather than quantity with less value.

• Speed; Accomplishment is important but more important is the speed by which it happens. People who grasp the ideology behind any goal are assets for keeps, they run faster than those who can’t understand but have the willingness to do the work. In this case, speed supersedes the willingness.

•  Input; The farmer must put seed in the ground before he can ever expect a harvest. There are so many employers who don’t give anything but expect everything. You have to give the soil something to work with. So before you go on judging productivity levels, check your input too.

•  Output; Measure output based on input. When you weigh what’s gone in with what’s coming out, you know if the effort is being rewarded accurately. Check out the factors impeding the output and then decide wether or not to continue the input.

•  Location; A major key to productivity is location. Imagine someone selling winter coats in the Sahara desert, a no sales record won’t be a surprise at all. Are you serving what is needed in the location you’re in or is what you have needed where you are? It’s amazing the difference that the right location will make towards productivity.
Every living thing should produce after its kind. Productivity makes for joy and happiness. Learning the keys to measure productivity will enhance productivity.
Hoping the information I have shared will help improve your productivity in all ramifications.
