Katsina NUJ trains 100 reporters

Katsina state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sponsored the training of 100 practising journalists and public relation officers across the state for effective skills reporting in the state.
The state chairman of the Council, Comrade Buhari Mamman Daura, said it became imperative to train the journalists for effective reporting under the present economist recession.
He said all the journalists and information officers were given three training days free of charge in an effort to improve information gathering and dissemination in the state.

According to him, within the three-day period the beneficiaries were trained on four different topics, that include media engagement in reporting, development and media as a tool for good governance.
He said Professor Balarabe Maikaba from Bayero University, Kano, trained the journalists on skills reporting development and good media relations under democracy.
Daura said the Katsina journalists received skills on conflict resolution initiative and media role in economic recession as best practice options.
He said certificates were given to the participants as a way of encouragement, adding that more training would be given to all journalists in the state, early next year.
