Kebbi awards N1.5bn contract to renovate burnt market

Kebbi state government has awarded N1.5billion contract for complete renovation of the Birnin Kebbi Central Market, which half of it was razed down by fire one year ago.
Signing the contract between the contractor, Bilal African Limited and on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner of Lands and Housing Alhaji Abubakar Cika Ladan, said the work would commence soon.
According to him, the N1.527782919 total sum of the contract was for the construction of 812 new stalls, a fire station, drainage, provision of access roads and total renovation of the burnt market stalls, adding that the contract had twelve months duration.

He added that upon completion of the project, many innovations that include electricity, provision of fire extinguishers, additional security outfits and new rules would be introduce in the market so as to make it look modern.
Ladan further disclosed that when completed, all shops around the market would be relocated to the market, whle make shift stalls would no longer be tolerated around the market.

Sarang, assured of quality job and pledged to complete the project within the stipulated contract period.
He thanked Kebbi state government for giving his company the opportunity to handle such a gigantic project.
