Kubwa traders bemoan poor facilities

By Donald Iorchir

Some traders in Kubwa Model Market have decried the poor state of facilities at the market which commenced operations only three months ago.
They called on the firm managing the market activities, Property and Estate Limited, to work in collaboration with the Bwari area council administration to provide the basic infrastructure at the market.

The market was commissioned by the FCT minister, Malam Mohammed Bello, on December 8, 2016, yet the activities are yet to pick up as a result of “poor handling of the affairs” by its management.
One of the traders, Ugo Chukwu, identified electricity as a major challenge facing her business, blaming it on the management for not taking the matter serious.

“The major issue in this market is electricity, but it seems the management doesn’t want to do anything about. Most of the business activities here can’t thrive without light; so, if the light challenge is resolved, it will assist us to operate better. I am not happy over the light issue; things are generally hard these days.”
Mrs. Nwachukwu Ethel, another trader, said the market was big enough to accommodate all the traders within Kubwa.
