New minimum wage ‘ll lead Nigeria out of recession – ASCSN

The Unit Chairman of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) of Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Comrade Samari Yakubu Isah, has said that the new minimum wage proposal by the NLC and TUC if approved would lead the country out of recession.
Comrade Isa, who spoke at the End of Year Staff Seminar/ Dinner, said these are necessary conditions for industrial harmony in work place, just as he commended the good working relationship the workers were enjoying with the management.

According to him, NEPZA is now set to deliver investment worth $60 billion dollars into the county as part of efforts to lift the Nigerian economy out of the current recession.
His word, “It has been a success story with management paying more attention to matters of staff welfare and addressing sundry issues through the robust communication channels we have created between management and staffs.
“To this end, we have delivered reasonably well in review of staff conditions of service, staff training and in addressing matters of allowances and promotion arrears.
“Negotiations are on-going on the issues of salary increment and based on feelers from the TUC and NLC I am confident that something positive will be done towards actualising the N75,000 minimum wage as soon as the economic recession in the country is over.

“The impact of the peaceful working environment at NEPZA has no doubt contributed to the successes recorded by the organisation under the leadership of our managing director in the last few years.”
He said, “NEPZA is now set to deliver investment worth $60 billion dollars into the county as part of efforts to lift the Nigerian economy out of the current recession.”
Also, speaking at the occasion, Managing Director of NEPZA, Mr. Gbenga Kuye, assured of a more robust working relationship in 2017, adding that “many things are presently in the pipeline for the agency with our expanded mandate.”
According to him, “efforts are being made by management to continually improve your welfare in the areas of new condition of service, new salary package amongst others.”
