No going back on Southern Kaduna military barracks – El-Rufai

Kaduna state Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, has said that no amount of hurdles or obstacles would stop the establishment of military barracks in Southern Kaduna to safeguard the lives and property the people.

Addressing a delegation from Kaura local government who paid solidarity visit on him in his office, Governor el-Rufai said those instigating violence in the name of religion and ethnicity do not mean well, but are rather breeding and promoting hate and division.

“We have talked with the Chief of Army Staff. There is no going back on the military barracks project in Southern Kaduna. There is no going back on our quest to ensure the protection of life and property, there is no going back in our resolve to enforce the law in the state. No matter what some mischievous people are doing they will not succeed by the grace of God.

“We will not be deterred in our commitment to protect the lives and properties of all indigenes of the state. One life matters to us because we are all humans created by God and we have the constitutional responsibility on our heads. And above all, we all represent humanity under God.”

El-Rufai, who frowned on manipulators of religion to further their parochial interest, added that “manipulating religion and ethnicity with dangerous narratives will not benefit our people.”

“It has not worked anywhere instead, it is dangerous and destructive. What we need is nothing but the truth. And we will continue to work for peace and solutions to the unfortunate security challenges.”
