Okorocha tasks civil servants on creativity

Governor Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has called on civil servants to think outside the box and develop new ideas for the country to move forward.
Okorocha made the call at the opening ceremony of the 40th National Council on Establishment (NCE) in Owerri.
He said the civil service which is the engine room of government in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes needs to change its mindset for development in the country to take place.
The governor also stressed the need for National Council on Establishment to look into the issue of proper remunerations for the civil servants including life after service.
Also speaking, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem OyoIta, acknowledged that the civil service is a foremost institution that has sustained the unity of the country and ensured smooth transition of power.
She said there was the need for fresh ideas to tackle the dwindling resources, the challenge of socio-economic and infrastructural development in the country.
She said the drive for innovation and change in the civil service should be a motivating force in the desire to improve on the systems, procedures, processes, regulations and operational guidelines in the service.
