Osun court remands man for ‘killing his police-officer wife’

An Osun state Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, yesterday, remanded a 41-year-old man, Abiodun Akeem Oladebo in prison, for allegedly killing his police-officer wife, Opeyemi Ojo.
He was alleged to have committed the crime on February 25, 2018 about 5pm in Osogbo.
The accused was said to have allegedly hit his wife’s head on the wall, thus causing her death.
The action, according to the police, was against the law.
The police prosecutor, Mr, Tajudeen Mustapha, told the court that the alleged offence committed by the accused person was contrary to and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol.11 Law of Osun state of Nigeria, 2002.
The accused was represented by Mrs. Bose Dada, but his plea was not taken due to the magnitude of the one-count charge of murder levelled against him.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Olubunmi Ajanaku, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesa prison custody.
She directed the police to duplicate the fi le and forward it to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), for legal advice.
She thereafter adjourned the case to May 9, 2018 for mention.
