Repentant bandits, rustlers surrender weapons to Army in Zamfara

Repentant armed bandits and livestock rustlers have continued to surrender their weapons troops of Nigerian Army in Zamfara State.
This followed last peace initiative instituted last year the state government in collaboration with 1 Division Nigerian Army.

The weapons were surrendered to 223 Battalion, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army in the presence of state government officials and representatives of the various heads of security agencies in the state, according to Army spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman in a statement.
He said the repentant armed bandits and local vigilante were in Ruwan Tofa, Yar Galadima and Babban Doka Danwaren Daji, and Mada in Maru, Tsafe and Gusau Local Government Areas, of the state.
“The weapons surrendered to the Army includes: three AK-47 Rifles, one foreign made Pistol, 1,169 Dane Guns, 323 Locally Made Pistols, 54 X locally made revolvers, 102 locally made multi-barrel pistols and 22 X locally made double barrel rifles,” he said.
He said the army had recovered over a thousand assorted weapons surrendered by repentant armed bandits and rustlers across the North west, over the last few months.
