Reps Dep Majority Leader Jibril, buried

The member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Umar Jibril, is dead, aged 58.

Jibril died in the early hours of Friday in Abuja, one of his political associates, Amuda Dan Sulaiman, confirmed.

Until his death, Jibril was the Deputy Majority Leader of the House and former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara , while announcing the demise of Jibril, said: “We regret to announce the passing away of our friend, brother, colleague and leader, Rt. Hon Umar Buba Jibril, Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, whose sad demise occurred in the early hours of Friday, after a protracted illness.

“Jibril was an upright man, a leader per excellence, a patriotic, committed and hardworking lawmaker, worthy representative”.

As at the time of going to the press, report said Jibril was buried later Friday in Lokoja after the jummat prayer.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, his wives, children, relations, his constituents and people of Kogi state”, the statement added.
