SDP summons NEC meeting over merger with PDP

The leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has summoned an emergency meeting to discuss its ongoing inter-party relationship with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and take decision whether to merge or not. PDP had announced that it has

started talks with seven political parties including SDP on the possibility of merging ahead of 2019 general elections.

A statement signed yesterday in Abuja by the National Publicity Secretary of SDP, Alfa Mohammad, said the meeting, which shall be

chaired by the party’s National Chairman, Chief Olu Falae, “will also discuss its ongoing inter-party relations and plans to position the party as the most credible alternative platform for the enthronement ofthe much desired effective and efficient leadership in Nigeria, come 2019.

All elected political office holders of the party are to be in attendance.”

Mohammad added that the NEC meeting slated for tomorrow will also conduct a review of the state of the nation and make its position on critical issues of national interest public
