We’ll overcome our problems – Kuje council chair

By Donald Iorchir

Chairman of Kuje area council, Hon. Abdullahi Danladi Galadima, has stressed more light on his administration’s determination to addressing the infrastructure decay he met on assumption of office.
Galadima assured the residents that his leadership was doing its best to restore the area back to the full glory that would bring about accountability and transparency.
A statement issued by the chairman’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,
Malam Haruna Usman, said the Council was already on the verge of collapsing when he took over the mantle of leadership.

“Instead of taking over leadership of the Council, my administration took
over bogus liabilities from the previous administration. The present administration on assumption of office, on May 20, 2016, met three months’ unpaid salaries, debts of N1.6 billion,” the statement read in part.
It further stated that the administration received 46 litigations against the Council from different contractors due to debts owed them by the former leaders.
The statement further quoted the chairman as saying that the Council’s account was frozen by a court order, thereby holding the entire Council to ransom for unpaid contracts awarded by the previous administration.
Its said the Council’s power generating plant was taken away by the contractor as a result of unpaid money from a contract awarded by the previous administration, adding that the drilling machine was a complete scam against the Council.
The release did not, however, provide details about the activities of the different teams constituted by Galadima to verify and ascertain the position of abandoned and ongoing projects, since he came on board.
