Operation Puff Adder: Deal decisively with bandits, IGP orders operatives in Katsina


The acting Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, has ordered the men of the Police Special Forces and other tactical units deployed to Katsina state on Operation Puff Adder to deal decisively with armed bandits and other violent criminal elements terrorizing residents in the state. 

The IGP gave the charge Wednesday, while addressing the combined teams of Police operatives at the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters in continuation of his operational tour of the North-central and North-west.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, in a press statement in Abuja, said the Police boss while acknowledging security challenges facing the nation on different fronts insisted these challenges were not insurmountable.

He, therefore, assured that everything humanly and operationally possible was being done towards bringing a permanent end to incidences of armed banditry and other crimes in the country.

He said the acting IGP had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Governor of the State, Aminu Bello Masari, where he sought the support of the governor and the good people of Katsina in the ‘renewed and reinvigorated’ fight against criminal elements.

The spokesperson said in his response, the governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Alh. Mannir Yakubu, pledged full support of the state government and residents to Operation Puff Adder and other security initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said the IGP also paid visited the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, where he sought the cooperation of the royal father and other traditional authorities to the onslaught against criminals.   

Meanwhile, the operation got a boost with the donation of 12 Toyota Hilux vans to the Police by the Katsina state government.​
