5000 Nigerians engaged for NHP project in Katsina—Official


Team Leader National Housing Programme (NHP) in Kastina state Architect Yohanna Saidu Thursday said a total of 5000 Nigerians were engaged as workers for the project in the state. 

The 76-housing unit, which is located in Kastina town, Saidu stated had reached practical level of completion.

Saidu while conducting the Zonal Director North West for the NHP project, Architect Joseph Toluhi round the project site also added that the electrical works on the site had been completed. 

He said: ” The contractors have finished the electrical works, which have been completed except to energise it. Also, all contractors have handed over their buildings which are at the practical completion stages. 

” When the project started a total of 5000 Nigerians inclusive of artisans, builders and other site workers were engaged because there were a lot of activities on the site”. 

On his part, the state’s Federal Controller of Housing, Mr Idris Aliyu, who said the project is set for commissioning, attributed the success recorded on the site to team work. 

Assessing the project, the NHP zonal director expressed satisfaction with the level of completion and quality of work done, adding that the project was due for commissioning. 

Toluhi said:” I am satisfied with the level of completion and quality of work done on this project. This is a result of team work. This is the first project of the national housing programme to be completed to this stage”. 

Earlier, the state’s Federal Controller of Housing Architect Hassan Ahmed said the project had reached 95 percent completion while its infrastructure is at 80 percent completion stage.
