9th NASS leadership: ‘North not launch pad for Tinubu’s propaganda’

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Abdulmajid Danbilki Commander, has said the north would not be used as launch pad by Asiwaju Bola Ahamed Tinubu to advance his ambition, using the current National Assembly leadership jostle.

Speaking to newsmen in Kano yesterday, Commander stated that the ruling party in the country is almost on the precipice, as a result of what he described as “Tinubu’s crafty design to stamp his imprimatur” against the wish of prominent card-carrying members of the party, who had a different perception of how the leadership should be formed.

He said it would be a costly mistake for members of the party serving at the National Assembly to allow themselves to be used as easy preys by one single person claiming to be the alpha and omega of the party at the time the issue of deciding the fate of the National Assembly was brought to the fore, pointing out that the issue of reaching a consensus on the National Assembly leadership was just a figment of Tunubu and Oshimhole’s propaganda stunt for them to score cheap political capital”.

He said: “Reaching a consensus on Senator Ahamed Lawan and Gbajabiamila to me is a cruel hoax. The northern part of the country is politically potent to discern what is propaganda and the real truth. The region is politically polished and civilised right from the first, second and third republics up till this time.

“What we want to avoid at present is falling into a booby trap. Nobody would be deceived    that the President is 100 per cent behind Senator Ahamed Lawan as the 9th Senate President. Tinubu is only using the controversy as a trump card to influence the decision of those he believed are ready to dance to his manipulative tendency,” he added.
