AAN begins ICAO sponsored training in Lagos

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has begun its inaugural International Civil Aviation (ICAO) sponsored training in Lagos.

The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, stated this in a statement issued in Lagos Wednesday.

Yakubu said the “ICAO Risk Management Workshop” followed the certification and designation of the FAAN training centre as an ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre on Oct. 9.

Declaring the workshop open, FAAN’s Managing Director (MD), Mr Saleh Dunoma, represented by the Director of Engineering Services, Mr Salisu Daura, noted that the workshop was very apt.

Dunoma noted that civil aviation was increasingly being targeted by terrorists due to the immense impact it had on human victims, material damages and the integrity of a nation.

He added that risk management was a critical variable in the aviation industry, urging member states for more cooperation to ensure proper coordination in dealing with rising risks and terrorist attacks.

The MD noted that the FAAN/ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre had the capacity to meet the training needs for the West and Central African regions.

He said this would contribute substantially to the development and improvement of Aviation Security Training globally. (NAN)
