ACD suspends national scribe for anti party activities

The Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD) has suspended its national secretary Mr Nwakeafor Worthyman for alleged anti-party activities.

The scribe, who was also the party’s presidential candidate, was placed on indefinite suspension for endorsing the APC presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, without due consultation with the party leadership.

The party in a statement Sunday through its national publicity secretary, Mrs Margaret E. Odey, said its National Working Committee (NWC) reached the decision at the end of an emergency meeting over the weekend.

However, the party national chairman, Alhaji Musa Adamu Takai, has set up a 4-man committee to hear from the suspended officer and subsequently decide on further sanctions based on the party’s constitution.

The statement listed Dr Gbenga Afemi, as chairman of the committee, Dr Manga Aisha, Honourable Gold Aimua and Alhaji Abdullahi Ali as members, adding that it is expected to submit its report within two weeks.

The national chairman regretted that Mr Worthyman had earlier unilaterally aligned the ACD with the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and adopted the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubkar, without resorting to the NWC.

“The national secretary’s decision to go ahead to adopt the ruling APC and its presidential candidate without discussing or bringing the matter to the attention of the NWC for consideration was definitely selfish, greed and unimaginable of a high ranking party national executive like the National Secretary”, the statement added.
