AFCON U-23 Qualifiers – Nigeria Vs Sudan: U-23 coaches scout NNL for fresh legs

Ahead of June’s final round AFCON U-23 qualifiers against Sudan, Dream Team VII Coach, Imama Amapakabo was spotted at the Agege Stadium in Lagos as he begins search for fresher legs to strengthen his side. AOIFootball.com reports.

After relying heavily on foreign professionals to overcome Libya in Asaba last month, the former Enugu Rangers gaffer looks set to build a solid set of home-based players that will join the foreign pros ahead of the clash in June.

Imama was spotted alongside his assistant, Kennedy Boboye as they played guests to a local derby involving 36 Lions and Stationery Stores where the visitors claimed an impressive 2-1 win in front of the national team handlers.

Imama, who also doubles as the Super Eagles Assistant Coach, is keen on avoiding the lack of team cohesion which almost cost the Dream Team a place in the final round following their late preparation for the clash.

The Dream Team VII will take on Sudan in the final rounds of qualifiers, with the first leg slated for June 5 in Omdurman and the second in Nigeria four days later.

The winner of the clash over two legs will progress to the AFCON U-23 Championship slated for Egypt between November 8-22 with the Dream Team aiming to defend the title they won in Senegal four years ago.
