Buhari’s re-election: Divine intervention to usher in prosperity – Yahaya

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Gombe state, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya has described the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari  as  pathway for consolidation of people-oriented programmes of the federal government.

He stated this during a press briefing in Gombe Thursday adding that Buhari is God’s divine intervention to usher in new and prosperous Nigeria that will be the country of destination for the global community.

“I congratulate you on your well-deserved, long expected and God-ordained victory. Your re-election is, no doubt, an eloquent statement of the people’s approval of your anti-corruption and anti-insurgency war,’’ he said.

On education and pensioners, Yahaya said education and pension were not part of the priorities of the present administration in the state led by Governor   Hassan Dankwambo as the administration pay lip service to education while neglecting pensioners’ gratuity and entitlement for reasons that can’t be justified.

He stated  that in spite the Paris Club refund, bail out, budget supports, excessive borrowing and the huge Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Gombe state was still lagging behind in critical infrastructure, education and payment of gratuities.

He added that the state government was careless enough to pile up debts for the in-coming administration despite all the money the state got.

“In terms of WAEC and NECO, a proper administration would not allow its people to lag behind and still say he is bringing change to the education sector? Go to the tertiary institutions, the quality of education at that level is deteriorating. So there is no way I can be convinced that the government of the day has done well in terms of delivering quality education.

“For those pensioners who after seven or eight years are yet to collect their gratuities, what sensible government does that do to the people who spent years in rendering services for the good and development of the state and yet have been abandoned.

“The present administration has failed in this regard and must not deceive the people that education was a priority because our records in external examinations have been contrary,’’ he said.

Yahaya stated that he had worked out his modalities to fix the problems as the people of Gombe deserve a better life which only APC can offer.

“I pledge to carry everybody along and I will improve on the lots of every citizen of the state if I am voted the next governor. The welfare of the teachers at all levels of education and the civil servants and farmers would be my priority including the health sector and everyone must have a sense of belonging,’’ he said.
