DBN certified for 3 critical ISO Standards


Nigeria’s foremost Development Finance Institution, Development Bank of Nigeria; has been certified by Certification Partner Global (CPG) for three critical ISO Standards. ISO 27001:2013 for International Standard for Information Security Management, System (ISMS), ISO 22301:2012 for Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and; ISO 20000:2011 for IT Service Management.

Commenting on Thursday at the presentation of the certificates by the implementation consultants, Digital Encode Limited, the Managing Director of Development Bank of Nigeria, Tony Okpanachi, said the certification was a major achievement for the Bank because the institution had just closed in on its first year of full operation. For us, he added, “It symbolizes both the interest and commitment of DBN towards the efficient management of information security, business risks, continuous improvement of our internal processes and technical competencies to build resilience and provide quality services within a framework of secured data and information security management system”.

He added that “the implementation of the Standards will benefit DBN and its stakeholders in many ways including; protection of revenue streams and company profitability, ensuring the supply of quality service to customers within an ambience that guarantees a high level of confidentiality as well as ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirement”.

According to him “if we may recall the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had directed all Banks in Nigeria, to put in place a global best practice as contained in the CBN IT Standards. The certification of Development Bank of Nigeria Plc. (DBN) for these standards is also in compliance with the directive”. He therefore, assured that “management will ensure that a systematic review of performance of the programme is conducted on a regular basis to ensure that quality objectives and issues are being identified and addressed through the audit programme and management processes”.
