Easter: EEDC visits 10 motherless babies homes in 5 Southeast states


As part of Easter celebration, the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has paid visits to ten motherless babies and old people’s homes across its coverage area within the five South Eastern states.

The selected motherless babies and old people’s homes visited by the organization were the Guardian Angel Motherless Babies Home, Nwanne Di Na Mba Estate, New Haven Extension, Enugu and Rehabilitation Centre, Emene, Enugu.

Others were St. Vincent De Poor, Abakaliki; Arrow of God Orphanage, Onitsha; Vinna Martha Christi Sister Retirement Home, Nkpor; Save the Child Motherless and Abandoned Babies Home, Owerri; Widow, Orphans and Destitute Care Center, Owerri; Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy Ahiake – Umuahia; and St Vincent de Paul (Disabled home) World Bank – Umuahia. All were presented with range of food, beverages, and toiletries.

Speaking at the occasion, the Head of Communications, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh said the initiative was the organisation’s way of giving back to the society and remembering the less priviledged and down trodden in their midst.

He said the exercise happened simultaneously at the selected locations across the South East, adding that EEDC has in the past engaged in initiatives aimed at empowering and enhancing the lives of the people, most especially youths.

“This include the distributed books and other educational materials worth Millions of Naira to secondary and tertiary institutions within the South East, in partnership with Sir. Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF),” he disclosed.

In appreciation, the Matron of Guardian Angel Motherless Babies Home, Enugu, Sister Martin Agnes Ibewuike, and the Principal of Rehabilitation Centre, Emene, Enugu, Mr. Anthony Agu prayed to God to reward the effort of the company, even as they appeal to other corporate bodies and well meaning Nigerians to emulate the kind gesture.
