Ex-governorship candidate urges Ortom to embrace opponents




Former governorship candidate of the Sustainable National Party (SNP) Gabriel Hemba has asked Governor Samuel Ortom to be magnanimous in victory and carry everyone along in the process of governance especially those who contested the exalted office with him.

Also, Hemba called on other political parties who may want to go court over the election to sheath their swords and work with the governor for the sake of the progress of the state.


Hemba, who spoke in Makurdi on Saturday, noted that the victory of the governor was for all citizens of the state, adding that as a candidate that contested against Governor Ortom, he was prepared to work with him and would do everything in his powers to assist the governor in his effort to deliver democracy dividends to the people. 

He urge Benue people, irrespective of political affiliations, to support the administration of Governor Ortom to enable him take the state to another level of development. 

Hemba also advised the governor to put aside political sentiment to work for the benefit of everyone. He said the victory of the governor at the 2019 polls was long expected.

He commended the governor for his dedication, diligence and commitment to the service of the state as exemplified by the defence of the people against all forms of attacks and killings.

He equally lauded him for the promotion of infrastructure development of the state, continued payment of staff salaries and entitlements, among other pressing needs of the people that have earned him re-election. 

“We are certain you will, by the Grace of God, justify the confidence reposed in you by the good people of the state,” he added.
