Ex-Nigerian ambassador calls on Onnoghen to resign

A former Nigerian Ambassador to Malawi and Zimbabwe, Funke Bello, has
appealed to the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter
Onnoghen, to resign from office.

Bello, a lawyer, said this on a Channels Television programme, Sunrise
Daily, on Tuesday.

Onnoghen was controversially suspended from office by President
Muhammadu Buahri last Friday. The president said he acted based on a
court order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Onnoghen is being tried for alleged false assets declaration at the tribunal.

The president’s actions have been condemned by most Nigerians and the
international community.
In her reaction, Bello said the right thing for Onnoghen to do is to
resign from office.
