FG launch 4 year geo data programme


The federal government has launched a four year geo information and geo data sharing programme with China.

The Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development Hon. Abubakar Bawa Bwari said this while giving three year account of stewardship at the ministry between 2016 and 2018 in Abuja.

“Nigeria and China have signed two Memoranda of Understanding on geosciences cooperation.

He explained that: “The MoU provide for cooperation between Nigeria Geological Survey Agency, the China Geological Survey, the Shadong Provincial Bureau of Geology and the Mineral Resources of China.

“The nationwide geochemical mapping exercise which has been launched is a four year programme focused on geo information and geo data sharing between Nigeria and China,” he said.

He added that the key areas of activities are low density geochemical mapping, the national geo information system and geo data sharing.

Meanwhile, the Miners Association of Nigeria and the China Miners Association have also reached an agreement to strengthen existing bilateral relationship.
