General election: INEC trains 12, 000 corps members in FCT

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the training of 12, 000 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The three-day-training which commenced Tuesday and ended on Thursday, held in 24 different locations within the Nation’s capital, including NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kubwa.

While supervising the training on Thursday in GSS Wuse Zone 3, the FCT Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Bello Ballama, commended INEC for the efforts put in place to ensure a seamless training exercise.

He also expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance of the corps members in the course of the training, even as he advised the corps members to avoid being used to cause mischief during the election.
He said: “The 12, 000 FCT corps members trained for the 2019 general elections are spread across the 2018 Batches: from Batch A to Batch C. Many are willing to participate, though INEC FCT requested for 12, 000 in their memo to us on 20th December and we were able to mobilised same number of corps members for the training.

“The corps members were trained in 24 different locations in the FCT, since we  want to make it difficult for them, as all we want is for them to acquire the knowledge and make the exercise hitch free. They should go by the rules and not be tempted,” he counselled.
