Kano renovates, upgrades Isa Kaita health care centre

Kano state government has awarded a multi-million Naira contract for the renovation and upgrade of Isa Kaita primary health care centre in Rimin A’i, Nassarawa local government area of the state, to a comprehensive health centre.

The contract covers infrastructure development, installation of modern medical equipment as well as other civil engineering works.

Inspecting the project Wednesday, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said: “The project is in furtherance of the commitment of my administration to pay special attention to the improvement of health care services in secondary and primary health facilities in the state.

“In the past four years, we have made visible efforts to improve access to health care services through initiating programmes such as free maternal & child health care services; free accident & emergency care, and free eye care programme, among others.”

“We have also spent huge sum of money in upgrading over 300 health care facilities (mostly PHCs) like this one, while money has been earmarked in this year’s budget to ensure improved delivery of maternal and child health services”.

He expressed optimism that renovation of the Isa Kaita primary health care centre would be completed in the next few weeks, urging the people to exercise patience as only skeletal services would be rendered by the facility while the work progresses.

On the state government’s free eye care programme at the centre, Ganduje said it was organised to cure people with eye ailments and especially to restore the sight of people suffering from cataract and glaucoma.

“We give glory to Allah that all of you can now see us as we see you. I am happy and I hope that with this endeavour, normalcy has returned to your lives.”

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim Gesto, said the renovation of the health facility started a few days ago, adding that at least 12 additional paramedical personnel had been redeployed to render basic health services pending completion of the work.
