Lawan most qualified for 9th senate president – Northern youth

Northern youths have extolled the leadership qualities of Senator Ahmed Lawan adding that these have made him suitable for presidency of the 9th Senate.

They also said Lawan is experienced, knowledgeable and is imbued with charisma of a true leader.

According to Joint Consultative Forum of Northern Youth Groups, their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) choice is because of Lawan’s humility, who will project the dignity of the 9th Senate and reduce the executive/ legislature frictions.

Speaking through the Director of Media and Publication, Isah Imam Muhammed and Zainab Aliyu Sabon-Birni, after a meeting in Kaduna, the youth said that Senator Lawan is best suited for the position having been at the National Assembly since 1999 and has been Senate Leader in the last four years.

“The forum did a careful evaluation of all the contenders for the coveted seat of the senate president and found all of them to be of impeccable character, with the experience and wherewithal to give a credible leadership to the 9th senate.

“The forum observed that it can only choose one among all the contending senators, who has the experience, knowledge, foresight, aura and charisma to provide the kind of leadership in the 9th senate that will lead to a much better Nigeria.

“The forum, therefore, align with Senator Ahmed Lawan, who is the most ranking senator, most experienced and knowledgeable from the region.

“He has been in the National Assembly since return to democratic rule in 1999. He grew through the ranks from a member of the House of Representatives where he served two terms, to the Senate where he has remained consistent till date”

The group further said though Lawan has headed several committees he has remained unblemished and a committed party man who would never destabilise their party and cause national unrest as seen in the past.

It, therefore, urged senators from the opposition PDP to rally round the emergence of Senator Lawan as the next senate president.
