Meter theft hits Abuja community

Theft of Pre-paid Meters has hit Bwari community in Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Blueprint can report.

In one week, this medium gathered that no fewer than five Meters were stolen in the area, with the one belonging to a staff of Blueprint, Mallam Ahmed Dabban, inclusive.

A check by our reporter at the area office of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Bwari revealed that Meter theft topped most of the complaints lodged at the place.

The affected Blueprint staff while narrating his experience said he left his Meter with no: 07085601685 intact on Monday night before he went to sleep.

“But to my surprise, I woke this morning (yesterday) to discover that my Pre-paid Meter has been stolen. I suspect that the people who stole my Meter took the advantage of the blackout in my area to perpetrate this evil act.

“By the time they took away my Meter, there was no power supply and nobody took notice of anything until I returned from the Mosque where I gone to observe my morning prayer’’, he said.

He, however, said he had reported the incident at the AEDC area office in Bwari and pleaded with the management of the company to quickly come to his aid by replacing his stolen Meter.
