Nasarawa varsity promises quality service in 2019


The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, (NSUK) has promised to give quality services in its 2018/2019 academic programmes.

The vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Suleiman Bala Muhammed stated this in an interview with journalists in his office Monday.

 The VC expressed gratitude to God for making it possible for the commencement of the 2019 academic session.

He said the institution had put in place mechanisms to ensure quality academic delivery by working in synergy for free flow of lectures, and student assignments, adding that he would ensure that non academic staff would act professionally in their dealings with students.

The VC further said that management would ensure that the university community maintains its culture of friendliness with students, by ensuring that sale of handout, buying of grade, sexual harassment, and other vices, are eradicated within the university environment.

Muhammed maintained that his administration is working with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for ease of  lecturing and research through the use of ICT centre.

The VC frowned at the large number of student population living off campus, and said that the visitor to the university, governor of Nasarawa state, Tanko Al-Makura had built three blocks of hostels for the institution, which will soon be put to use.

He also assured that security agencies and traditional leadership in Keffi are providing the necessary security services to staff and students, and urged the newly admitted and returning students to focus on their academic studies as being the cardinal objective of coming to Keffi.

“Obey the rules and tradition of Keffi people, and be law abiding,” he charged the students.

“The university management has met with Deans and Heads of Department and tasked them to discharge their duties professionally to students. Directorate of quality assurance will ensure that all lectures attain global standard.

“Parents are to monitor their children while in school, and students are to work hard as my stewardship has created room for students to excel  in their academic pursuits,”  VC said.

In a separate interview, the president, Faculty of Social Sciences students, Comrade Onairo Muhammad Bashir stressed that the turn-up of students was encouraging, but regretted that ASUU strike had drawn back academic the calendar.

He appealed to university management to improve on the ICT centre network for easy online researches.
