NB leads losers, as market sheds N62bn


Nigerian Breweries (NB) yesterday recorded the highest loss at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, dropping by N1.90 kobo to close at N78.00, Zenith Bank Plc trailed with a loss of N0.50 kobo to close at N22.95 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc fell by N0.45 kobo to close at N33.80 kobo,  Access Bank down by N0.30 kobo to close at N6.05 kobo, Dangote Suggar Refinery declined by N0.20 kobo to close at N14.10 kobo.

On the contrary, PZ Cussion led gainers table during the day, appreciating by N0.85 kobo to close at N12.15 kobo, Redstatex followed with a gain of N0.50 kobo to close at N5.5 kobo, Cadbury Nigeria Plc added N0.20 kobo to close at N10.00, UAC Property Development gained N0.15 kobo to close at N1.72 kobo, Sterling Bank Plc increased by N0.06 kobo to close at N2.30 kobo.

The NSE trading result during the day showed that Market Capitalisation of listed equities declined by N62 billiin or 0.53 per cent to N11.626 trillion from  N11.688 trillion reported on Monday. The NSE All Share Index depreciated by 165.53 basis points to 31178.71 points from 31344.24 points. Investors traded 359.511 million shares worth N1.912 billion in 3773 deals against 222.687 million shares valued at N1.843 billion in 4150 deals.

A review of the transactions indicated that 

CHI Plc was the most active stock during the day, dropping by 100.410 million shares worth N31.115 million, United Bank for Africa exchanged 48.843 million shares valued at N354.749 million, Sterling Bank Plc traded 30.150 million shares cost N66.155 million, Diamond Bank exchanged 24.025 million shares cost N55.591 million while Redstarex sold 20.732 million shares cost N109.016 million.
