Nigerian Legion to provide 5,000 jobs

National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, an umbrella body for war veterans, Brig-Gen Adakole Jones Akpa (retd), has unfolded plans by the association to provide 5,000 jobs this year.

Akpa, who addressed a press conference in Abuja, also promised to improve the welfare of his members. He announced that the gesture will be done with the support of NAPAAS.

The Legion national chairman also announced that a total of 8,000 members and their relatives who are widows, children and super-aged will also be supported during the year.

“The summary of the posture of this administration is to change within the shortest time possible, the face of Nigerian

veterans from those dregs of society to being the movers and shakers of Nigeria’s socio-economic life.

“NAPAAS business scope to accommodate the veterans’ living needs is almost inclined to think there is a divine influence in  its establishment.

“So far, in the short duration of our relationship, the organisation

has demonstrated in no uncertain terms its desire to be a long-lasting  and main prop support of the Nigerian Legion.

“To this effect, this administration in junction with its partners in this case NAPAAS, intends to achieve the following targets of objectives in 2019 and to advance in a geometric progression of minimum 100 per cent in the next 5 years which include employment of 5,000 persons vets, 2,000 persons and other Nigerians.”
