NSE: Bulls return as stock market gains N17bn


Investment in the nation’s equity market Wednesday rebound increasing by N17 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.15 per cent to N11.694 trillion from N11.677 trillion reported the previous day.

The NSE All Share Index also appreciated 46.92 basis points to 31360.28 points from 31313.36 points traded on Tuesday.

Investors exchanged 377.494 million shares worth N2.261 billion in 3273 deals against 219.369 million shares valued at N2.927 billion exchanged hands in 3345 deals.

An analysis of the transactions showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table for the day, gaining N69.90 kobo to close at N1549.90 kobo, Cap Plc followed with a gain of N3.40 kobo to close at N37.40 kobo, Okomu Oil Palm gained N1.00 to close at N80.00, Eterna added N0.40 kobo to close at N4.80 kobo, Sterling Bank increased by N0.21 kobo to close at N2.36 kobo. 

On the contrary, Guinness Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day declining by N3.15 kobo to close at N64.00, Dangote Cement industry trailed with a loss of N2.00 to close at Ñ192.00, Dangote Flour Mill Nigeria Plc fell by N0.50 kobo to close at N9.50 kobo, Africa Prudential down by N0.37 kobo to close at N4.55 kobo, UAC of Nigeria sheds N0.20 kobo to close at N7.80 kobo.

Further analysis indicated that Diamond Bank was the most active stock for the day, exchanging 113.597 million share worth N283.360 million, Chams Plc followed with account of 72.142 million shares cost N14.429 million, FBNHoldings traded 71.527 million shares valued at N586.219 million. Zenith Bank traded 14.588 million shares cost N321.398 million while United Capital Exchanged 12.846 million shares worth N42.360 million.
