Operation Puff Adder: Police gun down 9 on Abuja-Kaduna Expressway

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has said Operation Puff Adder recorded more successes along Abuja–Kaduna Expressway on April 10, 2019, with the recovery of six Ak47 rifles, one pump action gun, 1,206 rounds of Ak47 ammunition, seven magazines, and 28 cartridges and 158 expended shells.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, Sunday in Abuja, said the recovery followed exchange of gun fire between the Police and “a  heavily armed notorious criminal gang” at the Akilbu Forest, Off Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, resulting in the death of nine members of the gang while two escaped with gunshot injuries.

He said one of the Police operatives, however, sustained gunshot injury and is presently receiving treatment in a hospital. According to him, effort was being intensified to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.

The spokesperson said the acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, while expressing satisfaction with the successes recorded, so far, in the fight against kidnapping and other heinous crimes across the country, reiterated the call for the public to support the Police and other sister agencies.

He said the Police boss assured that the war against armed bandits would soon be won.
